* Employment on the territory of the Czech Republic.
Types of long-term visas:
Working visa
(Code D/VC/01/- /)
Employment at the public or private company which requires a working permit given by Bureau of Labor. However, not all employers in the Czech Republic are willing to organise working permit for foreigner. Mostly employer makes a contract with foreigner as a private entrepreneur or by agreement of cooperation with foreigner’s legal entity.
Main disadvantage of working visa is dependent on the employer, who may at any time cancel foreigner’s visa who will have a three-day period to seek a new employment; otherwise it will be expelled from the country. In addition, a foreigner with working visa can not purchase real estate.
Family reunion
(Code D/VC/03/- /)
This type of visa issued to child under 18 years old, if a parent had long-term visa or permanent residence or filed an application for a residence permit in the Czech Republic, or a spouse if the other spouse already has, or has filed an application for a residence permit in the Czech Republic. Long-term visa is issued for the duration of parent /spouse’s visa and extended also to the same period for which the visa was extended for a parent /spouse
Private Enterprise
(Code D/VC/06/- /)
Individual business activities on the basis of the license (“zivnostensky list”) is also not an optimal solution for the foreigner. Visa provides a sufficiently high imputed tax that must be paid immediately upon arrival to the Czech Republic, irrespective of the activity is conducted or not, the high cost of health insurance, which is calculated from the age of the entrepreneur and must be paid for at least 6 months in advance. Private entrepreneurs-foreigners with residence permit in the Czech Republic can not purchase real estate.
Education
(Code D/VC/08/- /)
Education in Czech educational institution, registered with Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic. Education for non-accredited courses and schools do not garantee a residence permit in the Czech Republic
The disadvantage of a student visa is that for permanent residence 10 years are required (instead of 5 years). In addition, students who have residence permit in the Czech Republic can not buy property. Therefore, we recommend to students after the first extension of visa to register a company and change visa’s type.
Participation in a legal entity
(Code D/VC/36/- /)
This type of residence permit can be obtained by co-founder or the founder of the Limited Liability Company (in Czech s.r.o), a board member of a joint stock company or co-op.
Residence permit of this type makes it possible:
* Engage in entrepreneurial activity
* Bring in the Czech Republic their relatives and friends
* Obtain permanent residency in the Czech Republic after 5 years
* Buy property
* Get a mortgage
* Have medical insurance like Czech citizens, regardless of age and health, with monthly payment
* Find an employer or work under the contract between the firms
After receiving a long-term visa (the visa is issued for 1 year), after first crossing of borders foreigner must register at foreign police during three working days. From 120 to 14 days before the end of a long-term visa foreign must apply for extention at foreign police. After this time the visa (residence permit) is issued for 2 years. The first visa’s extension should remain the same as a one-year visa.
A long –term residence gives a lot of advantages for business, education, it can become the basis for obtaining permanent residence.
Obtaining a long-term residence in the Czech Republic is relatively easier and cheaper than, for example, in countries such as Germany or Spain. It is cheaper and faster to obtain. After the first extension of the residence permit, you can visit Shengen countries with your Czech visa.
